Father’s Day is just around the corner, and we couldn’t be more excited to celebrate with our dads! And what better way to celebrate than by calling shenanigans on a yummy Father’s Day dessert? We don’t know about your dad, but our dads are pretty big fans of desserts.
Of course, dads have a special place in any daughter’s heart, and we’re no exception. We’ll be the first to tell you that our dads are awesome! They raised us, always made us feel special, taught us things like how to drive and how to put air in our tires, took us shopping (no matter how bored they got), encouraged us to go after our dreams… this list really doesn’t end. Just yesterday Kristen and I were joking about how it’s likely we’ll never marry because no guys will ever be as great as our dads (it’s true).
We decided that we would make baseball Father’s Day cupcakes we found on Pinterest in honor of our dads. Kristen’s dad works in baseball, and my dad always secretly wanted me to play softball (sorry dad!), so we figured they were appropriate. I mean, isn’t teaching you how to play catch so typically dad-ish?
To make these baseball cupcakes, first you’ll want to gather your ingredients:
- White cake mix
- White icing
- Two (or three) bags of M&Ms
This is a super-simple shenanigan, but it has cute results.
First, line a cupcake pan with cupcake liners and mix your cake batter. Bake the cupcakes to the directions on the box of cake mix.
Use the time while your cupcakes are baking to separate the red M&Ms from the rest.
Once the cupcakes have cooled, frost them with a thick layer of the white icing (the thick layer makes it a lot easier for the M&Ms to stand up like their supposed to). Place the red M&Ms on the cupcakes to create two seam lines like in the picture below.
That’s it! We think these little baseballs turned out well- they’re adorable and crazy easy (we love it when those two things come in a pair!) We hope that our dads love them!
What will you guys make for Father’s Day?

Rainbow Cupcakes Does Edible Glitter Work? Brownie in a Mug!
But, of course, why didn’t I think of that?
Haha, it’s so simple, but it looks so cute! We were very happy with how these turned out 🙂
I have done almost the same thing for my son for a couple years now but I use the pull apart licorice and put down 2 curved and then cut shorter pieces to make ‘stitches’. Have also made one big baseball cake the same way with the pull-apart licorice.
Oh wow! That sounds super cute too, if you have any pictures of them be sure to post them on our facebook page, we would love to see them 🙂 https://www.facebook.com/WereCallingShenanigans
These are adorable! Great for a World Series party!! The best part is they make any table fun and any age can participate in the decorating. Of course licking the bowl and sneaking the red M&M’s is a must.
HAPPY FATHER’S DAY to all the dad’s out there! Kristen and Amiela I know you have two very proud dads our there with big smiles on their faces!!!!
Thanks! We definitely recommend this as a good baking idea for kids since any age can make the stitches!
