We have a special place in our hearts for two-ingredient recipes. They really shouldn’t work, because it’s only two ingredients, but then when they do it’s just so magical. Plus you feel all clever for trying it out and being successful! You don’t understand- when our two-ingredient pancakes and two-ingredient cheesecakes worked out, we were just darn proud of ourselves. That’s not normal? Oh… maybe that’s just us.

When our friend, Jaqueline, posted this Buzzfeed article of two-ingredient recipes on our FaceBook page, we were in shenanigan heaven! Of all the ideas, the Oreo bark recipe really stood out. Bark is a nice departure from our usual cupcakes and brownies, plus candy bark is delicious! Christmas really wouldn’t be complete with a good peppermint bark. And what about peanut brittle? Yes, please.

Oreo Bark Recipe

If we’re going to set out to make this Oreo bark, first you’ll need to grab your ingredients:

  • 18 Oreos (plus however many you plan to sneak away while nobody’s looking)
  • One 12 oz bag of white chocolate chips

I love that this list is so short.

Line a 8×8 pan with aluminum foil.

Now it’s time to work out a little anger and stress. Put 16 of the Oreos inside a plastic Ziploc bag, seal it and smack the bejeezus out of those Oreos! These crushed Oreos will eventually go inside the bark.

Now you’ll need to start up a double boiler to melt the white chocolate. If you have a real double boiler, that’s great! You’re one step ahead, keep up the good work. If you don’t have one you can use a makeshift one like we did. We filled a small pot halfway with water and placed a small saucepan on top.

Slowly bring your water up to a light boil and pour your chocolate chips into the top of the double boiler. Stir the chocolate continuously until it melts. It’s best to use this method to melt the chocolate because it keeps the chocolate from heating too quickly and getting messed up.

Fully melt your chocolate.

Now, pour the melted chocolate into a heat-resistant bowl (not plastic!).

Pour your crushed-up Oreos into the melted white chocolate.

Mix until they’re well incorporated.

If you’d like, you can crush up the last couple of Oreos to top off your bark. Just sprinkle them onto the still-melty chocolate.

After letting your bark cool completely, lift it out of the pan and peel away the aluminum foil.

Now cut it into pieces and you’re all done!

We LOVED this shenanigan. The bark was so, so easy to make, plus I’m going to go ahead and say that it is one of the most delicious desserts we’ve made for this blog. It tasted exactly like an Oreo McFlurry. It’s uncanny.
